I spotted this place yesterday. My jaw dropped. Here lied, in the corner of New York City's heart, the last place that remained true to the Spirit of what this gritty city once was. The last little piece of glass Guiliani only wished he could scrap at to erase any piece of New York history. It seems funny now, thinking about it, that amongst all the glossy shopping centres (what, with Manhattan Mall and Macy's only an inch away), and all the promise of glamour (my school, FIT, is only a block from this place!), this little place remained here, quietly ticking away while the real Manhattan slowly dies down. My only wonder is how long it will take for a place like this to fade away, like all the other porn shops that are slowly selling out to the Internet giants. I might sneak by this place more often, to get a glimpse inside of what 42nd Street once was.
